Enjoy the silence, as Depeche-Mode once famously said, that is what I try to do when in the forest. I guess the city is a more productive place photographically, but I feel the forest is where I am most happiest.
Oddly, I notice the silence more when the birds sing.
There aren’t many ancient forests left in England, most were planted within living memory; it seems such a selfless-act to create something that you know you will never see within your own life-time, a lesson we could all live by.
As the Chinese proverb says, the best time to plant a tree was a long time ago, the next best time is now.
